Getting essential legal advice and representation is a constant challenge for people in immigration detention, frequently leaving people without access to justice around their detention and their immigration case.
This content is available free to volunteers in AVID member groups and individual members of AVID. Volunteers who attend live AVID training will automatically receive a login. Despite this, there are many ways visitors can act alongside people they meet in detention as they try to find legal advice, get a lawyer to represent them, and ensure they are doing their job well. There are also options people in detention can take to advocate for themselves without the help of a legal advisor or solicitor, and which volunteers can support with.
